EMDR Therapy

An evidence-based path to heal from trauma and distressing life experiences.

EMDR — Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing — is a well-researched therapy designed to help people heal from distressing life experiences and trauma. It’s one of my areas of special focus.

What is EMDR?

When something overwhelming happens, the brain can struggle to fully process it, leaving the memory “stuck” along with the emotions, beliefs, and physical sensations attached to it. EMDR uses gentle, guided bilateral stimulation (such as side-to-side eye movements) to help the brain reprocess these memories so they feel less intense and disruptive.

What EMDR can help with

Trauma & PTSD

Process traumatic events so they feel less raw and intrusive.

Anxiety & panic

Calm the body’s alarm response and ease persistent worry.

Painful memories

Soften the emotional charge of distressing or intrusive memories.

Grief & loss

Make space to mourn and gently find a way forward.

Self-worth

Loosen negative beliefs about yourself that are rooted in the past.

What to expect

1

Safety & preparation

We get to know your history and build coping skills and a sense of safety before any processing begins.

2

Reprocessing

Together we gently target specific memories, using EMDR to reduce their emotional charge.

3

Integration

Experiences that once felt overwhelming become more manageable — always at a pace that feels right for you.

EMDR isn’t about forgetting what happened — it’s about changing how those memories live in your body and mind, so they no longer hold you back.
